Perched on the top floor of a historic railroad building in the heart of Warwick, New York, Saltara Healing is a sanctuary where science and soul come together. Surrounded by natural light, lush greenery, an in-studio waterfall, and the warm glow of ancient Himalayan salt, every detail was intentionally chosen to create a space that invites people to exhale.

Often referred to as "white gold" in the Himalayas, Himalayan salt was formed hundreds of millions of years ago and is among the purest natural salts on Earth.

We've always been drawn to its ancient, grounding presence. Mined from the Punjab region of Pakistan at the base of the Himalayan Mountains, Himalayan salt is more than a beautiful element of our space. It has long been associated with purification, restoration, and a sense of calm—evoking the same feeling of renewal many people experience by the ocean. That feeling of ease, presence, and nervous system regulation is the experience we hope every guest finds at Saltara.

Saltara itself was born from a friendship.

After working side by side at a New Jersey yoga studio, Tara Lauren and Tara Marie shared a vision of creating something more than a yoga studio or wellness center. They dreamed of building a true healing sanctuary—a place where movement, stillness, community, and holistic healing could come together under one roof.

Then came the name.

Saltara.

A simple blending of SALT + TARA—combining the Himalayan salt that had always been central to the vision with the name shared by both founders.

What began as a practical combination soon revealed layers of meaning neither of them could have anticipated.

Across Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sanskrit traditions, Tara carries profound symbolism. In Hindu mythology, Tara represents wisdom, compassion, creation, and transformation. In Buddhism, Green Tara is known as the compassionate protector who helps overcome fear and inner obstacles, while White Tara symbolizes purity, healing, longevity, and grace.

Across these traditions, Tara is often seen as a guiding light—a compassionate presence that helps illuminate the path forward.

As if the connection wasn't already remarkable, Tara also translates to "star" in both Sanskrit and Punjabi—the language of the very region where Himalayan salt is mined.

It felt as though every layer of the story was quietly waiting to be discovered.

Everything aligned in perfect synchronicity.

Today, that symbolism continues to shape who we are.

Light has become one of the defining threads woven throughout Saltara—from the sunlight that fills our studios, to the soft glow of Himalayan salt, to the belief that healing is often less about becoming someone new and more about remembering who you've always been.

At its heart, Saltara is a reminder that we are all made of stardust—that each of us carries an inner light capable of healing, growing, and illuminating the lives of others.

Together, Tara Lauren, Tara Marie, and the incredible community of teachers and practitioners who now call Saltara home are honored to hold space for that journey.
