FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us, if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At Saltara Healing, our classes are guided by a gifted team of certified yoga instructors, each bringing unique expertise rooted in diverse yogic traditions. Most of our offerings are inspired by Hatha, Raja, and Vinyasa yoga—blending intentional movement, breath awareness, and meditative stillness to support harmony in body, mind, and spirit.

Many classes incorporate ancient yogic techniques known as kriyas—powerful practices that include postures (asana), breathwork (pranayama), meditation (dhyāna), chanting (mantra), and hand gestures (mudra). These elements are woven together to clear energetic blocks, awaken inner vitality, and deepen your connection to Self.

Whether you're seeking strength, release, grounding, or spiritual expansion, each class at Saltara is designed to gently guide you back into balance—so you can carry that alignment into your daily life.

You’re in the right place. At Saltara Healing, we warmly welcome all levels—especially beginners. Whether it’s your very first class or your first time back in a while, our intention is to help you feel safe, supported, and at ease as you begin your practice.

There’s no need to be flexible, strong, or experienced. Yoga is a personal journey, and every body is different. Our teachers offer gentle guidance and options throughout class, so you can honor how you feel in each moment. Need to pause? Adjust your posture? Skip something altogether? Absolutely. Your breath is your guide.

Many of our classes weave in breathwork (pranayama), meditation, mantra, and mindfulness to help you experience the deeper benefits of yoga—from nervous system regulation to emotional balance and spiritual connection.

Come as you are. We'll meet you there—with compassion, presence, and space to grow.

We offer several gentle and grounding classes that are perfect for beginners or anyone craving a slower, more nourishing pace. These include:

  • Flow + Restore – Sundays at 11:45 AM
  • Gentle Stretch + Flow – Mondays and Fridays at 9:30 AM
  • Slow Flow Restorative – Tuesdays at 6:30 PM
  • Stretch + Strengthen – Wednesdays at 12:00 PM
  • Evening Slow Flow – Thursdays at 6:30 PM

Also, keep an eye out for our Monday night pop-up classes—they’re often Yin, Slow Flow, Gentle, or Restorative and are a beautiful way to ease into your week.

That said, beginners are welcome in any class on our schedule. If certain times work best for you, start there. Just let the teacher know you’re new to yoga—and be sure to mention any injuries, physical limitations, or if you’re pregnant, so they can best support you.

You are free to move at your own pace and rest when needed. You’ll naturally find your flow and begin to build your practice over time.

⟢ All you need is a yoga mat—we have mats and props available to borrow or purchase if needed.

⟢ Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid anything too loose (which may bunch up) or too tight (which may feel restrictive). You want to feel supported yet unencumbered.

⟢ For the most easeful experience, try to avoid eating 1–2 hours before class. Staying hydrated before and after is important, but we recommend minimizing water intake during practice. According to Ayurveda, yoga stokes the body’s digestive fire (agni), and drinking water mid-flow can dampen that energy.

⟢ Please leave your shoes, coats, phones, and keys in the designated area near reception before entering the studio. This helps us maintain a peaceful, clutter-free space. (Saltara is not responsible for lost or stolen items.)

⟢ If you’re pregnant, healing an injury, navigating a medical condition, or prefer not to receive hands-on assists, kindly let your teacher know before class. We’re here to support you with thoughtful guidance, posture options, and props to meet you where you are.

Welcome to our healing space. In the spirit of Saucha (purity) and Mauna (silence), we ask that you help us cultivate a serene and mindful environment—for yourself, and for everyone who enters.

✨ Please keep the following in mind when arriving for your class or appointment:

⟢ Arrival Time: We recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early to settle in and gently transition into practice. If it’s your first visit, please allow extra time to sign up and/or complete an intake form.

⟢ Check-In: Upon arrival, check in at the front desk so we know you’ve arrived.

⟢ Class Timing: Out of respect for the experience, we ask that you stay for the entire class. If you need to leave early, please inform the teacher ahead of time and take a brief mini savasana (final resting pose) before quietly exiting. We kindly ask that students do not leave during the final relaxation.

⟢ Cell Phones: Please silence your phone and leave it in the designated area in reception to support full presence. If you need to keep it nearby (e.g., for family or emergencies), please keep it on silent.

⟢ Mindfulness: When entering the studio, you may find others resting or meditating. Please enter quietly, gather your props with care, and honor the sacredness of the space with soft voices and presence.

Thank you for co-creating a peaceful, heart-centered space with us. Your awareness and intention make Saltara a sanctuary for all who enter.

At Saltara Healing, your well-being is our highest priority. We’re committed to maintaining a clean, energetically clear, and hygienic environment so you can fully relax and receive the support you came for.

⟢ We use botanical-based cleaners proven to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria and viruses to regularly sanitize all studio surfaces, props, and common areas. To further uplift and purify the energy of the space, we also incorporate incense and essential oils with natural antibacterial and antiviral properties.

⟢ Each treatment room and studio is equipped with Intellipure® Virus Air Purification Systems—advanced filtration technology that captures particulates 40x smaller than standard HEPA filters, offering one of the most effective forms of air purification available.

⟢ In addition, we run the Sterile-Bright™ System, a powerful combination of ultraviolet and ozone light technology that neutralizes 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores—ensuring our space remains both physically and energetically clean.

⟢ To help keep our community healthy, we kindly ask that you:

  • Wash your hands and cover your cough or sneeze
  • Stay home and rest if you're feeling unwell
  • Refrain from attending class or scheduling appointments if you've been in close contact with someone experiencing flu-like symptoms

Thank you for your care, respect, and shared commitment to creating a safe and healing sanctuary for all.

Yes—if your healthcare provider has cleared you for physical activity, you're welcome to join us on the mat during your pregnancy. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early and let your instructor know how far along you are and if you have any specific concerns. This helps us offer the most supportive posture variations and props for a safe, comfortable experience.

During pregnancy, your body naturally produces Relaxin, a hormone that softens joints and ligaments in preparation for birth. While this may increase flexibility, it can also make you more prone to overstretching or discomfort—so it’s important to move gently, listen closely to your body, and never push past your edge.

If you're new to yoga or have limited experience, we recommend seeking out prenatal yoga classes whenever possible, as they’re specifically designed to support expectant mothers safely and gently, preparing the body for childbirth.

For those with an established yoga practice, many postures can still be enjoyed with some variations. Here are some helpful guidelines:

  • Explore open twists from the upper body rather than twisting deeply from the waist
  • Avoid poses that place pressure on the belly
  • Soften or skip intense forward folds and backbends
  • Be mindful in balance poses, especially as your center of gravity shifts
  • Avoid lying flat on your back later in pregnancy (this can pressure the vena cava, the largest vein in your body)—opt for resting on your left side with a bolster or cushion for support

As always, your comfort and safety come first. We’re here to hold space for you, and to support your journey with care and compassion every step of the way.

Your safety is our priority. In the event of inclement weather, Saltara typically follows Warwick Valley School District’s delays and closures, which are determined by local officials and transportation staff.

If our schedule changes, we will promptly notify everyone who is signed up for a class or service via text and/or email. We’ll also post updates on social media, our website's classes page, and Momence to help keep you informed across all platforms.
